All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players.
- Shakespeare: As You Like It
All the world's a stage, and most of us are desperately unrehearsed.
- Sean O'Casey
Competent and confident communication skills are a must for any one who wants to work and achieve in an effective, satisfying way in today's marketplace. But what exactly does the development of "Communication Mastery" involve?
There are two elements to any communication- the "song" and the "singer"- what you say and how you say it. Recent studies indicate that listeners are more profoundly influenced by the non verbal content of a communication, the singer, than they are by the words alone, the song. These non-verbal elements include the speakers voice- tone, volume, rhythm, pitch etc.- and how the speaker uses their body- posture, movement and gesture. Communication is at its most powerful and compelling when the non-verbal and the verbal elements of a message support and reinforce each other.
The Communication Mastery course will use adapted Theatre training methods to help participants to dramatically stretch and expand their communication and performance skills. Powerful communication and "personal presence" depends on the practice of surprisingly simple yet fundamental skills.
"The people we know as masters don't devote themselves to their particular skill just to get better at it. The truth is, they love to practice- and because of this they do get better. And then to complete the circle, the better they get the more they enjoy performing the basic moves over and over again."
George Leonard - Mastery
